Alkaline battery disposal
Alkaline batteries are considered non-destructive for the environment. Therefore, the alkaline battery disposal can be disposed of with the normal household waste. They are not at all dangerous until and unless they are disposed in smaller quantities. As the mercury has already been removed from the alkaline batteries, there is no worry in disposing it in the general municipal systems.
Alkaline batteries are made up of metals like steel, zinc and manganese which don’t create any trouble for the health and environment. Always keep in mind not to dispose the alkaline batteries in a huge quantity or group. It may lead to some risks as the scrap batteries sometimes are not properly used. They should never be heated or burned. As they contain zinc, carbon, etc. Therefore, they need to be properly recycled in order to reproduce low grade steel and zinc batteries. Recycling is a good option but it is quite expensive so can’t be used on regular basis though it is environment friendly.
